Authentication bypass via improper SSO certificate validation
Published Nov 7, 2024 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Authentication bypass in Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager 12.2 allows remote attackers to access the system through a MITM attack. AuthorizeByVMwareSsoToken improperly validates certificates when processing VMware SSO security tokens, accepting tokens from an intercepted exchange. Exploitation requires a man-in-the-middle position and no prior authentication, and the resulting bypass grants unauthorized access to Enterprise Manager.
