Low-privilege MFA bypass via settings alteration
Published Sep 7, 2024 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
Improper authentication in Veeam Backup & Replication 12 through 12.1.2.172 allows local users to alter MFA settings and bypass MFA. Veeam has not published the affected authentication component or the operation that permits unauthorized MFA-setting changes. A low-privileged Veeam role and local access are required; bypassing MFA defeats the added login factor and exposes the role's authorized operations.
