CVE-2024-40691Network attack vector

Victim compromise via unvalidated executable upload

Published Dec 3, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in IBM Cognos Controller 11.0.0 and 11.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to store malicious executables. The Controller Web upload path accepts files without validating their content before storing them in the system. A low-privileged account can plant an executable, but a victim must receive and open the file before the reported follow-on compromise occurs.
