CVE-2024-40673Network attack vector

Remote code execution via invalid ZIP headers

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025

Code injection in Android 12, 12L, 13, and 14 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted ZIP file. The ZipFile Source parser accepts an archive when offset zero contains neither a local-file-header nor end-of-central-directory signature. An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply the malformed archive for dynamic code loading without user interaction, causing attacker-controlled code to run.
