Local privilege escalation via GPU use-after-free
Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Use-after-free in the PowerVR-GPU component of Google Cloud Android SoC allows local users to gain elevated privileges via a race condition. The private issue record does not disclose the function or exact memory-lifetime operation that races before freed GPU state is reused. Exploitation requires local code execution on a device containing the affected PowerVR-GPU component, and successful exploitation grants higher privileges without user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
