Authenticated code execution via unchecked strcpy
Published Apr 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in the Tenda AC8 WAN settings handler 16.03.34.06 and 16.03.34.09 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The fromAdvSetMacMtuWan path passes attacker-controlled wanMTU, wanSpeed, cloneType, mac, serviceName, and serverName values to strcpy without bounding them to the destination stack array. Access to the router's WAN configuration interface is required; successful exploitation permits code execution in the embedded web service or crashes that service.
