Local privilege escalation via freed GPU memory access

Use-after-free in Android's PowerVR GPU DDK through 24.1 allows local users to escalate privileges via GPU system calls. An in-flight GPU shader or kernel retains access to buffer pages after the physical memory resource is freed, permitting reads and writes to freed physical memory. Non-privileged software with access to GPU system calls is sufficient; the resulting kernel-memory access enables local privilege escalation without user interaction.
