Authenticated code execution via unfiltered backup variables
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
Code injection in SeaCMS 12.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through crafted phomebak.php variables. The backup handler embeds attacker-controlled variable names into a generated PHP file without filtering, causing injected PHP code to be interpreted. Network access and an authenticated application session are required, after which commands run with the web server account's permissions.
