Authenticated RCE via template path traversal
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
Code injection in SeaCMS 12.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through the administrative template editor. admin_template.php checks only that the supplied path begins with ../samples, so ../samples/../ traversal reaches the login template and writes attacker-controlled PHP that login.php later includes. Administrative access is required, and successful exploitation runs code with the web server process privileges.
