Traffic hijacking via forged ICMP redirects
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper source verification in H3C Magic RC3000 firmware RC3000V100R009 allows attackers to hijack local-network traffic. The routing functionality does not prevent a same-WLAN host from sending a forged ICMP type 5 redirect that names the attacker as a client's gateway. Access to the same Wi-Fi network is required; successful exploitation redirects client traffic through the attacker or interrupts connectivity.
