CVE-2024-40515Public exploit

Traffic hijacking via forwarded forged ICMP redirects

Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper source verification in Tenda AX2 Pro firmware 16.03.29.48_cn allows remote attackers to hijack client traffic. The router forwards an attacker-spoofed ICMP redirect to another WLAN client as though the router originated it, causing the client to replace its route with the attacker's address. The disclosed test requires the attacker and victim to share the same Wi-Fi network and demonstrates traffic interception or loss of connectivity, not arbitrary code execution.
