Cookie theft via reflected tab parameter XSS
Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024
Reflected cross-site scripting in OpenPetra 2023.02 allows remote attackers to steal authenticated users' cookies through a crafted URL. The serverMPersonnel.asmx endpoint places the tab query parameter into a left-navigation HTML attribute without adequate output encoding, allowing injected event-handler code to run. No login is needed to create the link, but an authenticated user must open it and hover over the affected navigation item for the demonstrated cookie theft.
