Session theft via stored profile-name script injection
Published Jul 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Heartbeat Chat 15.2.1 allows remote attackers to run scripts in another user's browser through crafted profile names. The setname path stores crafted first- and last-name HTML and renders it in user listings and Threads search results without neutralization. A victim must view the user section or search for the crafted name, after which the script can expose the victim's session and enable account takeover.
