CVE-2024-4040Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unsafe template expansion

Published Apr 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Server-side template injection in CrushFTP before 10.7.1 and 11.1.0 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read files and execute code. ServerSessionAJAX.writeResponse passes attacker-controlled API response text to an unsafe variable-expansion routine that evaluates template directives, including file inclusion. An anonymous web session can reach the API, exposing files outside the VFS sandbox and enabling administrator-session theft and server compromise.
