Unauthenticated shortcode execution via unvalidated AJAX action
Published May 24, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Code injection in WP Photo Album Plus 8.7.02.003 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shortcodes via an unauthenticated action. The AJAX action handler in wppa-ajax.php passes an insufficiently validated request value to do_shortcode, causing WordPress to interpret attacker-supplied shortcode syntax. No account or user interaction is required; the resulting effects depend on the shortcodes registered by the affected site.
