Root code execution via unsanitized router name
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Command injection in Vilo Living Vilo Wi-Fi 5 Firmware 5.16.1.33 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root. The router's /bin/sysconf process places the attacker-controlled Vilo name into an udhcpc command passed to C system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Management-app access is required to change the name, and the injected command runs when the router restarts; the field accepts no more than 32 characters.
