Unauthenticated code execution via unbounded sscanf copies
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Buffer overflow in Vilo Wi-Fi 5 Firmware 5.16.1.33 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code from the router LAN. In local_app_set_router_token, two sscanf calls copy attacker-controlled token and timezone strings into 17-byte stack buffers without length limits. Any unauthenticated LAN user who implements the port 5432 custom XXTEA protocol can corrupt the stack and gain root-level control of the router.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
