Authenticated command execution via unfiltered NTP value
Published Jul 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-823X firmware v21_D240126 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through an HTTP request. The /goform/set_ntp CGI passes ntp_zone_val through uciSet into a formatted /sbin/uci command that sub_412B04 executes with system() without filtering metacharacters. Access requires valid management credentials, and injected commands run with administrator privileges on the router firmware filesystem.
