Authenticated command execution via unchecked repository path
Published Jul 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Gogs 0.13.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands by deleting internal repository files. DeleteRepoFile passes the unvalidated repository TreePath to os.Remove, allowing deletion of .git/HEAD so Git treats attacker-controlled files as bare-repository metadata. Repository write access is required; a crafted core.fsmonitor setting then runs commands as the configured Gogs service account.
