CVE-2024-39930Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via SSH env request

Published Jul 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Argument injection in Gogs 0.13.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through its built-in SSH server. The env request handler in internal/ssh/ssh.go passes an attacker-controlled name and value to env, allowing split-string option parsing to create a command. Exploitation requires the built-in SSH server, a valid account key, and an env utility with split-string support; commands run as RUN_USER, while Windows is unaffected.
