Unlimited password guessing via unenforced retry limit
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Improper login-attempt restriction in neutrinolabs xrdp before 0.10.0 allows remote attackers to make unlimited password guesses. xrdp-sesman leaves an RDP session connected after failed credentials instead of enforcing MaxLoginRetry from /etc/xrdp/sesman.ini. No authentication is required; repeated guesses can expose accounts with guessable passwords, while the flaw itself does not grant access without a valid password.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
