CVE-2024-39915Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unescaped report URL

Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Command injection in Thruk before 3.16 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through PDF report generation. Thruk::Utils::Reports::Render::get_url concatenates the report URL into a shell command and passes it to Thruk::Utils::IO::cmd, allowing shell metacharacters in the URL to alter the command. Access to the reporting function and Direct PDF generation is required; injected commands run with the web application's privileges.
