Arbitrary app installation via cleartext server traffic
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unprotected communications in TONE Store 3.4.2 and earlier allow man-in-the-middle attackers to read or alter app traffic. The app exchanges installation instructions with the TONE Store website over cleartext, allowing intercepted responses to be analyzed and modified. A network position enabling interception is required, and forged communications can trigger installation of arbitrary applications.
