Remote code execution via unchecked restore paths
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Path traversal in Siemens SINEMA Remote Connect Server before 3.2 SP1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a backup file. During encrypted backup restoration, the server fails to validate each restored file path, allowing crafted archive entries to place malicious files outside the intended restore location. Exploitation requires the backup encryption key and permission to upload a backup; successful placement grants arbitrary code execution on the server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
