CVE-2024-39810Network attack vector

Server crash via unbounded CA path read

Published Aug 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Mattermost 9.5.0 through 9.5.7 and 9.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server. The Elasticsearch connection test reads the configured CA path without a size or time limit, so a System Role can point it at an endless file such as /dev/zero. Access to the Elasticsearch System Console is required; testing that configuration exhausts resources and terminates application availability.
