CVE-2024-39808

Physical reboot via incorrect OSDP buffer sizing

Published Sep 11, 2024 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

Buffer-size miscalculation in Gallagher Controller 6000 and Controller 7000 firmware allows physically proximate attackers to reboot the device. The OSDP message handler computes an incorrect buffer size for a message from a connected reader; Gallagher has not published the faulty arithmetic or subsequent memory operation. Only sites with OSDP-connected readers are exposed, and exploitation requires tampering with a reader or its wiring; the documented consequence is a controller reboot and service interruption.
