Authenticated command execution via newline configuration injection
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Configuration injection in Wavlink AC3000 firmware M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. openvpn_server_setup() stores the open_port POST value in NVRAM without filtering newlines, then openvpn.sh writes it into server.conf. A valid session cookie and VPN server setup request are required; an injected OpenVPN --up directive runs shell commands when the configuration loads.
