CVE-2024-39792Network attack vector

Service interruption via MQTT memory growth

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Denial of service in F5 NGINX Plus before R31 P3 or R32 P1 allows remote attackers to exhaust memory through MQTT requests. F5 identifies an expired-pointer dereference in ngx_stream_mqtt_filter_module but has not disclosed how request content triggers increasing memory use. An unauthenticated network peer reaches the condition only when the MQTT pre-read module is configured, and sustained memory growth interrupts service.
