Filesystem escape via FTP configuration newline injection

Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Configuration injection in Wavlink AC3000 Tri-band Wi-Fi Router M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote authenticated users to escape the FTP root via HTTP. The nas.cgi set_ftp_cfg() path stores ftp_name in NVRAM, and proftpd.sh writes it to ServerName without filtering newlines. Administrative web access is required; injecting a DefaultRoot directive exposes paths available to the FTP account and can lead to a system shell.
