CVE-2024-39780Public exploit

Code execution via unsafe YAML deserialization

Published Apr 2, 2025 · Updated Jun 18, 2025

YAML deserialization in ROS dynparam Noetic and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to execute Python code through crafted YAML. The do_set and do_load paths pass parameter strings or file contents to PyYAML yaml.load and yaml.load_all with the unrestricted Loader, permitting arbitrary object construction and function calls. Execution requires a user to invoke dynparam set or load with attacker-controlled data and runs with that account's privileges.
