Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Andrew A. Barber WP Jitsi Shortcodes 0.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject script through a Jitsi shortcode. The jitwp_shortcode function applies shortcode defaults, then inserts jwt, width, height, roomname, username, and useremail values directly into HTML div attributes without escaping. Contributor access is required, and the demonstrated payload executes in an administrator's browser when the post is viewed and the pointer moves over the crafted element.
