CVE-2024-39755

Root privilege escalation via replaceable update package

Published Oct 3, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024

Privilege escalation in Anka Build 1.42.0 allows local users to gain root privileges by replacing a node agent package during update. The privileged DownloadAndInstallPKG path saves AnkaAgent.pkg in writable /tmp, then runs installer without preventing replacement between download and use. Exploitation requires local write access and winning that race; an unauthenticated HTTP request can trigger the update task.
