CVE-2024-39723

Data-access interruption via disabled USB port

Published Jul 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Missing hardware-interface protection in IBM Storage Virtualize 8.6 allows physically proximate attackers to interrupt data access via USB. On FlashSystem 5300 appliances, disabling a USB port in the administrator-controlled configuration does not prevent that physical interface from remaining usable. Physical access to the appliance is required, and interaction with the exposed port can make stored data unavailable without reported disclosure or modification.
