Unauthenticated file-existence disclosure via CreateModel error oracle
Published Oct 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024
Information disclosure in Ollama 0.3.14 and earlier allows remote attackers to determine whether server-side paths exist via /api/create. The CreateModel route processes an attacker-controlled path and returns distinct operating-system errors for missing files, existing files, and directories. Unauthenticated network access to the API is sufficient; the response reveals path existence but not file contents or modification capability.
