UEFI variable rollback via unauthenticated factory reset

Missing authentication in InsydeH2O IhisiServiceSmm allows local users to restore selected UEFI variables to factory defaults. IHISI function 0x49 performs the factory-default restoration without further authentication by default. High local privileges and high-complexity conditions are required, and successful exploitation can roll back selected UEFI variable state on certain platforms.
