Browser script execution via unescaped Suites parameter
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Reflected XSS in FitNesse before 20241026 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted request. The searchProperties responder places the Suites query value into searchForm.vm without HTML escaping, allowing markup to enter the rendered response. Exploitation works with default settings but requires a user to open the crafted URL; the script runs in the FitNesse page's browser context.
