CVE-2024-39601Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Firmware rollback via missing anti-downgrade enforcement

Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Firmware downgrade in Siemens CPCI85 before 5.40 and SICORE before 1.4.0 allows attackers to install older vulnerable firmware. The firmware update workflow accepts a valid older update package without enforcing a minimum version, as demonstrated through the SICAM WEB interface. Remote authenticated users can reach the web update path, while unauthenticated attackers need physical access to the device's SD-card update path; the downgrade exposes known flaws in the installed older firmware.
