RPD crash via malformed BGP UPDATE
Published Jul 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper exceptional-condition handling in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash RPD. RPD fails to reject a malformed BGP UPDATE received on an established session and instead crashes and automatically restarts. An attacker must maintain at least one eBGP or iBGP session over IPv4 or IPv6; repeated packets sustain routing-service interruption.
