FPC outage via malformed or sampled traffic
Published Jul 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Input validation flaws in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allow remote attackers to stop an FPC with crafted network traffic. The Packet Forwarding Engine's packetio process mishandles either sampled transit traffic or a malformed CFM packet, crashes evo-aftman, and leaves the FPC inoperative. Reachability requires SFLOW with ECMP on PTX for the transit-traffic path, or CFM on the receiving interface; service remains interrupted until the FPC is restarted.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
