rpd crash via conflicting TE database entries
Published Jul 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper exception handling in rpd in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved 22.4 through 23.4 allows attackers to crash and restart rpd. rpd accepts conflicting IP or ISO node addresses in the Traffic Engineering database, then fails when a later operation processes those entries. Exposure requires the source-packet-routing TE database plus OSPF or IS-IS TE configuration; successful triggering interrupts routing service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=22.4-EVO <22.4R3-S2-EVO
