Traffic-filter bypass via invalid local-address acceptance
Published Oct 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Incorrect comparison in affected Junos OS Evolved releases allows remote attackers to bypass traffic filters from adjacent networks. The local address verification API accepts an interface subnet's network and broadcast addresses as valid local destinations, so the device creates sessions or accepts traffic addressed to them. Exploitation requires unauthenticated access from an adjacent network and can circumvent stateless firewall filters without causing a reported availability impact.
