Routing daemon crash via malformed BGP attribute
Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in rpd in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash and restart rpd. With BGP traceoptions or BGP traffic engineering enabled, rpd reads beyond a buffer while processing a malformed, non-transitive BGP attribute. A reachable BGP peer can repeatedly send the packet to sustain a routing-service outage, but the attribute does not propagate beyond that peer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
