Traffic interruption via insufficiently validated clear command
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper input validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows local users with low privileges to interrupt packet forwarding. The Advanced Forwarding Toolkit manager fails to validate input from an undisclosed clear command, causing evo-aftmand-bt or evo-aftmand-zx to crash and restart. Low-privileged local CLI access is required; one execution interrupts all FPC traffic, and repeated executions sustain the outage.
