Kernel compromise via cachefiles object use-after-free

Use-after-free in Linux kernel 6.8 cachefiles allows local users to compromise kernel confidentiality, integrity, and availability. cachefiles_ondemand_daemon_read dereferences req->object after a restore race releases the xarray lock and another path frees that object. A local low-privileged user must reach configured on-demand cachefiles restore handling; exploitation can crash the host or compromise kernel data.
