Kernel information disclosure via unsanitized VMCI event index
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Information disclosure in affected Linux kernels allows local users to expose kernel data through crafted VMCI event messages. In drivers/misc/vmw_vmci/vmci_event.c, event_deliver() uses the user-controlled event_msg->event_data.event value as an index without speculation sanitization. Reachability requires local low-privileged code able to submit a VMCI event, and the bounded consequence is speculative kernel-information exposure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
