System crash via bcache iterator out-of-bounds access
Published Jul 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in the bcache subsystem of affected Linux kernels allows local users to crash the system through btree traversal. A dynamically allocated btree_iter retains a MAX_BSETS-sized array and indexes beyond that bound when a cache set requires a larger iterator. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an active bcache cache set whose mempool iterator exceeds the fixed array capacity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
