CVE-2024-3941Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unvalidated reCAPTCHA site key

Published May 10, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Stored XSS in bozdoz reCAPTCHA Jetpack 0.2.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through a forged settings request. The recaptcha-jetpack settings page accepts an unvalidated site_key POST value, stores it without sanitization, and later inserts it into contact-form HTML without attribute escaping. Exploitation requires Jetpack, a page or post containing a Jetpack Contact Form, and an administrator who opens attacker-controlled HTML; the payload executes when the form page is viewed.
