Authenticated code execution via unchecked SSID copy
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Wavlink AC3000 Tri-band Wi-Fi Router M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The set_wzdap function in adm.cgi uses sprintf to copy the wlan_ssid2g POST value into a 0x90-byte stack buffer without checking its length. A valid session cookie and high-privilege access to the HTTP configuration interface are required; an overlong value overwrites the return address, enabling code execution and a device crash.
