Authenticated command execution via unchecked NewName copy
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in wireless.cgi in Wavlink AC3000 M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The SetName handler passes the arbitrary-length NewName POST value to strcpy without checking it against the 0x58-byte stack buffer, allowing the saved return address to be overwritten. A valid session cookie and network access to the HTTP interface are required; successful exploitation executes arbitrary commands on the router.
