CVE-2024-39352Network attack vector

Administrator firmware downgrade via unvalidated version metadata

Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Synology Camera Firmware before 1.0.7-0298 allows remote authenticated users to bypass firmware integrity checks. The update functionality fails to validate firmware version information before installation, permitting an older system image to be accepted. Administrator privileges are required; a successful downgrade can restore known flaws and, when chained with another vulnerability, lead to code execution as root.
